Hearty Shepperds Pie

This recipe is a favourite in my house. One of my boys invited a few friends over the summer and he said: “mama make sure you make shepperds pie for my friends”

He thinks everyone should love it as much as him.

I love the fact you can freeze it in little satchels (see below) and have handy meals for any given day. Just take a night before and heat up in the tin foil in the oven or just put in a plate and heat in the microwave.

PREHEAT oven at 200c

Ingredients:

800g mince

1 onion

2 carrots

2 cloves of garlic

1 cup of green frozen peas

Handful of fresh parsley (optional)

1 tablespoon of rosemary (I used dry herbs)

1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

9 potatoes (plus butter and a drop of milk for the mash)

Optional: put some leaks in the mash potatoes and they get really crispy and tasty in the oven)

Method:

1. Chop carrots, onion and garlic in small pieces and sauté them with olive oil

2. In the meantime peal and boil the potatoes and mash them when soft with a drop of milk, some butter, sea salt and pepper

3. Add the mince to the onions and cook until brown. Add the Worcestershire sauce and herbs. Season to taste with some sea salt and pepper

4. Place mince mix in a rectangular baking dish. Top with the potato and bake for 30 minutes.

Let it set for 5 minutes before slicing it!

Tip: sometimes I add a drop of red wine and is very nice!

Hope you guys make it and enjoy it!
